Within the Scottish Highlands at Fort Augustus, this Wee House exhibits a striking colour combination of Dulux Heritage Olive Tree and York White painted timber cladding and the Terracotta coloured corrugated steel roof, beautifully complimenting the picturesque surrounding landscape.

Andrew and Ann had always wanted to self-build but were slightly daunted by the process So, having done some research and coming across The Wee House Company, they were pleasantly surprised by the turnkey solution we offered – and the minimal time on site was also extremely appealing. They were also attracted to the traditional Scottish architectural style of our Wee House and encouraged by previous customers’ testimonials. This is where their journey with The Wee House Company began.

An initial concern for The Wee House Company was that the site for the Wee House was once part of a granite quarry which would inevitably bring some challenges; the house had to be raised so that suitable drainage could be installed and a large section of granite had to be broken out to install the septic tank.

Furthermore, this project took place during the COVID-19 pandemic – in fact, right in the heart of the pandemic. We encountered another few stumbling blocks with planning being disrupted as it was submitted at the start of the pandemic, material delivery andworking around COVID-19 restrictions and protocol. . However, all these things were overcome, with minimal disruption. Andrew described his experience as being “… transparent and painless. There were inevitable delays due to COVID-19 but we were kept informed regularly about these and appreciated there was not a lot anyone could do about it. The on-site build was excellent”.

The couple are now settled in their stunning Wee House and are enjoying every minute of living in such a beautiful space with the most delightful surroundings – they certainly chose the right spot for their Wee House!
